Our e-prescribing partner, DrFirst, will be announcing tomorrow, October 12, its integration with Akario, a HIPAA-compliant messaging system, for a scheduled production release in November 2012.
What is Akario?
Akario is a free, web-based, secure messaging system enabling you and your staff to send and receive patient records, multi-media attachments, and referrals. With seamless integration into DrFirst’s e-prescribing product, you will now be able to access and share patient information stored in Rcopia.
Built on the technology of the direct project, Akario’s messaging system enables hospitals and health systems to promote care coordination, facilitate data exchange, reduce cost and increase meaningful use among community providers by automatically sending discharge summary to their affiliated physicians.
Features of Akario at a glance
- Send messages with rich-text editing
- Attach multi-media (such as photos, notes, charts, xml docs) up to 20MB
- Access Akario’s provider directory
- View and print files
- Folder management for simple organization
- Email notifications when you receive a message
